Exceptional quality grapes allow for a low intervention winemaking process resulting in a true expression of the land and its seasonal variations. We will only make wine from our estate grown grapes, where we can oversee every aspect of the grape growing season.
Silver Dog Vineyards is located in the Shenandoah AVA in Linden, Virginia. The vineyard is an 18-acre property, situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The lower edge of the property is at an elevation of 1,100 feet and the uppermost part of the property is at 1,200 feet. We currently grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Barbera, Petit Verdot, Sagrantino, Chardonnay and Petit Manseng. The slope is steep in parts which allow for proper drainage and wind flow. We believe our east facing slope is well situated for the impending warming climate.
Each vineyard block is unique and requires particular attention. All vineyard work is done by hand and will remain that way. Only with this level of dedication and oversite will the land yield exceptional grapes. Each wine is the best possible expression of the grape grown in that particular season.
